JANUARY FISHING
This stone-hard
Table top of ice
Has me aroof fish paradise.
In my old wood sled,
Auger and poles
To drill then fish
Through eight inch holes.
Does he swim from footfall loud?
Am I like thunder in his clouds?
Across the way black crows cry,
(warnings to the monsters send)
'Cruise down to the deeper end!'
And so I catch the little guys
Who believe my trickery and lies...
While wizened big trout
Turn and go
From shuffling boots
And long shadows.
